Gastronomic experience
Lanche, not lunch
Are you familiar with the term Lanche? In Portugal it usually refers to a meal somewhere in the afternoon, between lunch and dinner.
At Mesaluisa’s lanche you will enjoy our choice of traditional pastries and coffee, different types of breads and tea, the quintessential Portuguese toast, seasonal fruit, jams and cheeses, cured meats and wine (and a few other things) in a private setting with beautiful decoration and an intimate atmosphere.
Note: If you wish your experience to be private please inform us in the Order notes on the checkout. Depending on the number of people, in addition to the standard price a private experience fee might apply.
Somewhere in the afternoon
For many, the first memory that comes to mind when we think of lanche is a mid-late afternoon meal in the warmth and coziness of our family homes with our loved ones. The delicacies included at a lanche vary depending on the time, context and place – it can range from a quick small bite (a simple sandwich, a savory snack or a pastry) at a local pastelaria on weekdays afternoon to quite a substantial meal on weekends afternoon at home (where you won’t find trendy avocado toasts or fancy eggs benedict, though tasteful they might be).
Gastronomic and cultural context about our lanche
You can expect some food for thought too: besides food and drinks we will provide gastronomic and cultural context about our lanche habits and culture.
